Dallas/Fort Worth Hepatitis B Free Project

Approximately two million Americans are chronic HBV carriers. Of those, 50% are of Asian origin; 1/10 Asian Americans are infected with the virus. Active HBV screening of immigrants from endemic areas, mainly Asia and Africa, has not been implemented. Therefore, the true prevalence of the HBV carrier state in the US is unknown. Additionally, knowledge of HBV disease in community is inadequate. We are developing the DFW Hepatitis B Free Project to raise the awareness and screen for HBV primarily focusing in high-risk Asian communities in the DFW Metroplex.

2 Hepatitis B screenings will take place in the Dallas/Fort Worth area:
Screening #1: March 26 @ CCHC
110 N. McKinney St, Richardson, TX 75081
Screening #2: April 23 @ Saigon Mall
3212 North Jupiter Road # 201 Garland, TX 75044

We will:
- Provide free screening for Hepatitis B
- Provide free vaccines for those who test negative
- Provide access and linkage to further care for those who test positive

Screenings are on a first come, first serve basis. Please arrive at 9 am for registration. Participants must come back for the post-screening in order to receive their screening results.
